2023 regional workshop
The fourth edition of the Regional Workshop on Community-Led Planning was held in Pikogan, on November 7 & 8, 2023. We were warmly welcomed in Anicinape territory by the Abitibi8inni First Nation.
The workshop brought together 25 participants representing 15 Nations or First Nations: Abitibi8inni, Essipit, Cree (Eeyou-Eenou Nation Government), Kahnawà:ke, Kebaowek, Kitcisakik, Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg, Lac Simon, Long Point, Mistissini, Pessamit, Uashat mak Mani-utenam, Waskaganish, Wendake and Wolf Lake.
The theme of this 4th edition was Mackawisiwin ka otcian (the strength of our roots). We are grateful for Elders Rose Wylde and Tom Mapachee who gifted us these words in Anicinapemowin.
How can our stories, identities, lands and strengths feed our community vision?
By bringing together storytelling, conferences, hands-on activities and circle mentorship, the workshop created a space for inspiration and shared learning. It also highlighted First Nations’ deep planning expertise. We hope you enjoy exploring this content!
