Regional Workshop 2017
The first edition of the First Nations Comprehensive Community Planning Regional Workshop was held from September 19 to 21, 2017.

The Workshop brought together 49 delegates representing 27 First Nations and 11 Nations, including 2 Nations in British Columbia. The participants came from all walks of life and represented all age groups. Together they explored various aspects of community planning, an approach that was in its infancy in our region but was already used by over 100 First Nations on Turtle Island. The Workshop had four objectives:
- Promote CCP as a tool for community development, through conferences and testimonies presenting communities’ experiences.
- Explore various aspects of the CCP process, such as community engagement, consensus building, planning principles, etc.
- Present useful tools and approaches for all planning processes.
- Foster dialogue between First Nations, and with potential partners involved in community development.
The event was organized in collaboration with the partner Nations of the CCP pilot project: Abitibi8inni First Nation, Kahnawà:ke, Kebaowek First Nation and Listuguj. It was held with financial support from Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC).
